Oral Cancer Screenings

We recommend an oral exam during your routine dental visit to screen for oral cancer. During an oral exam we will look over the inside of your mouth to check for red or white patches or mouth sores.

To ALL OF OUR PATIENTS:

We are HAPPY to inform you that as of Monday May 4, 2020, Family Dentistry of Calera will be open again to resume dental procedures! We are serious about your care & safety! We have taken extra precautions to ensure that we are continuing to follow strict social distancing guidelines as well as cleaning & sterilizing our office after each patient.

As we begin to call patients about existing appointments and rescheduling those that were cancelled over the last 6 weeks, there are a few changes we have made. We hope this list will answer most questions you may have before arriving for your appointment.

If you have a confirmed scheduled appointment, here are some helpful tips to know upon arrival:

  1. Please brush your teeth BEFORE you come to your scheduled appointment
  2. Please arrive at your appointment ON TIME & stay in your car. Call the office 205-668-9122 or text us when you have arrive. Please be on time, as that will allow us the additional time we need to sterilization and clean our operatory for the next patient.
  3. A staff member will meet you at your car to take your temperature & review a questionnaire about COVID-19 symptoms or possible exposure (Should you have ANY SYMPTOMS such as fever, cough, shortness of breath, etc. of COVID-19 or have been exposed to someone with it, please call our office as soon as possible before this appointment time to reschedule)
  4. The staff member will then escort you ONLY into the office & you will be seated in the operatory immediately. No other family members or children will be allowed in the operatory for the appointment & no one is allowed to wait in the waiting room (the only exception will be ONE parent or caregiver accompanying a minor patient)
  5. From here, your appointment will take place as usual, but WE may look a little different with the added protection we are wearing to keep everyone safe.
  6. Due to the increased amount of personal protection equipment our staff must wear, our office may be colder than normal. Please dress accordingly. Any personal belongings of the patient must stay with the patient at all times. We will be unable to provide neck pillows or blankets, but you may bring your own.

We look forward to getting back into a routine & cannot wait to see you all very soon!

Our front door will remain locked until we come to your car to get you for your appointment. The door must remain locked for now to minimize walk-ins in order to observe this social distancing measure. If you need to schedule an appointment, rather than walking in to do so, please call our office at 205-668-9122, email us at secure@fdc71.com, or fill out the appointment request from our website.

We ask that ALL NEW PATIENTS visit our website (www.familydentistryofcalera.com) to download, print & fill out all new patient forms. These forms can be found under the heading “links” and then “client forms”. Please bring all forms with you to your appointment or email them back to us before your appointment.

We are working extra hard to schedule and reschedule all patients, but we ask for your patience in doing so. Due to our regulations we ask that you be patient with us & expect delays as we work through this adjustment. The number of patients we can see in a day will be reduced in order to comply with social distancing but EVERY EFFORT will be made to see all patients in a timely manner.

If you wish to reschedule your appointment for ANY REASON at all, our office understands & will be happy to assist you!

Thank you for your understanding & patience! We can’t wait to see you all again!

Dr. Kelli Bennett & Staff
